Enable or Disable Comments in WordPress
To help you understand better regarding how to enable or disable comments in WordPress Posts and Pages, I have attached a video here. So, I will highly recommend you watch this video as it is easier to understand these types of tutorials with the help of a video.
After watching the video, you can refer to these footnotes to have even a better understanding of how to enable or disable comments in WordPress:
There are two ways by which you can enable and disable comments in WordPress. We will see both of them one by one. But before starting, there’s one thing you need to know. By default comments are enabled on a post and disabled on pages.
I will share how you can enable or disable comments by using the example of a post. You can do it the same way for pages also. So, start off by logging into your WordPress Dashboard. After that, click on ‘Posts’ in the left sidebar.
Hover your cursor on the post on which you want to enable or disable comments. Then, click on ‘Edit’. The editor will open up. Go to the right-sidebar, scroll a little bit and you will see an option of ‘Discussion’. Click on it. In the discussion tab, you will see a checkbox of ‘Allow Comment’.
And as I told you earlier, in posts by default the comments are enabled. So if you want to disable the comments on this post, just untick this box and click on ‘Update’ to save the changes. Once you click on ‘Update’, the post will get updated and then no more comments will be allowed on that particular post.
So this was the first way by which you can enable or disable comments. The second way to do this is by clicking on the ‘Quick Edit’ option of the post on which you want to enable or disable comments. Then, in quick edit, move on to the option of ‘Allow Comments’.
Now, if you will tick the checkbox the comments will get enabled. And if you untick the checkbox the comments will get disabled. So, just tick or untick the check box according to your requirement. Then click on ‘Update’ and the settings will be saved.
To do it for WordPress pages, the process is exactly the same. You have to click on ‘Edit’ or ‘Quick Edit’ and then in the right sidebar, you have to click on discussion and then tick/untick the option of ‘Allow Comments’ to save the settings as per your requirement.
