Hi, this is Digital Abhi, your digital marketing friend, and a contented digital marketer. In this post, we will step by step see how to install a WordPress Theme.
Install WordPress Theme
To help you understand better regarding WordPress Themes, I have attached a video here. I will highly recommend you watch this video as it is easier to understand these types of tutorials with the help of a video.
After watching the video, you can refer to these footnotes to have even a better understanding of how to install a WordPress theme:
Obviously, the first step is logging into your WordPress Dashboard. After logging into your WordPress dashboard, you have to go to the left sidebar. In the left sidebar, you can see an option of Appearance. And as soon as you will hover your cursor to the Appearance tab, you will see a small dialog box opening to its right. In this dialog box, click on the option ‘Themes’.
You will see that by default we have three themes in our WordPress: Twenty Sixteen, Twenty Seventeen, and Twenty Nineteen. By the time you are reading this post, there can be more default themes. You can choose from these three themes for your WordPress website. Or if you want to add a new theme for your website, just click on the button ‘Add New’.
As soon as you will click on the button ‘Add New’, a screen will show up which will contain a lot and a lot of themes. So from the themes in front of you, you can choose anything you like. Or there’s another option. If you have downloaded a theme from a third-party website you can just click on the ‘Upload Theme’ option and upload your theme.
Let’s see how you can install a particular theme.
So if you have a particular theme in your mind which you have searched already, then you can just search in the themes. Like for me, I’ve searched a theme which is named as Hueman. So I’ll just type Hueman in the search box and the corresponding theme will show up in front of me.
Hover over the theme and you will see two buttons with the name Install and Preview. Click on the Install button and it will start installing the required WordPress theme. Once the theme is installed, the Install button is converted into an Activate button. You have to click on the button Activate and the theme will be activated on your WordPress website.
To see how your website looks after installing the theme, you can just open your website and refresh it. In the upcoming posts on Digital Abhi Blog, I will also share how you can customize the whole theme. I will also share how you can add some plugins and widgets to extend the functionality of your WordPress website.
And also the theme Hueman is added to the list of the themes which were available earlier. You can also customize the theme according to your usage and requirement. So that’s how you can install a WordPress theme on your website.
But if you don’t know the name of the themes available in WordPress, I have a quick tip for you. Just open google and type ‘top WordPress themes for blogging website’. And if you have an e-commerce website, you can search like ‘top WordPress themes for an e-commerce website’ or any other query related to the type of website you are building.
You will find a lot of results related to your search query. So you can go through these articles and decide which WordPress theme you are going to use for your website.
